Student Health and Counseling Services has been renamed to UChicago Student Wellness—a name that reflects our integrated approach to providing care and our mission to provide students with comprehensive health, counseling, and wellness resources that support their academic, personal, and professional success. This new name – which will replace the individual departmental names of Student Health Service, Student Counseling Service, and Health Promotion and Wellness – reinforces that there is one interdisciplinary team ready to address a range of students’ health and wellness needs. 

The University’s new Student Wellness Center will help to facilitate this integrated approach to care. The medical suite of the center opened in March, and the full center will open in late 2020 when counseling and wellness services relocate from their current offices. One of the main benefits of having an integrated wellness center is that all services will be in one location, enabling clinicians to more easily refer students and collaborate across disciplines, lower barriers for students to seek care, and increase student awareness of the full suite of clinical and non-clinical services available to them.
