Are you feeling stressed out? Have you wanted to try Yoga but have been intimidated in the past? You are not alone!
Students today face ever-increasing levels of stress that are causing burnout, fatigue, anxiety, and other mental and physical imbalances that can get in the way of enjoying life. Many of us have heard that Yoga can help but are often hesitant to practice because we fear we are not flexible enough, athletic enough, or “Zen” enough.
Our Restorative Yoga classes may be just what your mind and body need! Join us for an accessible and approachable Restorative Yoga class that will help ease tension and melt your worries away. During class, we use props like blocks, bolsters, and blankets to help you relax into several Restorative Yoga postures that are held for several minutes at a time. We use mindful breathing and meditation techniques such as Yoga Nidra that are sure to leave you calmer and more rested than when you walked in the door.
If you’re looking for a workout or more intense yoga, this is not that type of class. If you want to ease into relaxation quietly and learn new mindfulness, meditation and breathing techniques, you’ve found the right place!
Classes are free, open to all levels of experience and all props + mats are provided. Please come in comfortable clothing and dress in layers as the space tends to be cool.
- Autumn Quarter Restorative Yoga classes will take place on Mondays 3:00 - 4:00 PM in the Student Wellness Center's multipurpose room (840 E. 59th Street) starting October 7th and running until December 9th.
- No prior registration required; feel free to drop in and check out a class!
- There will be no class November 25th due to Thanksgiving Break.
For additional yoga offerings on campus, please check out classes in Ratner Athletic Center and those hosted by Spiritual Life in Bond Chapel and Rockefeller as well as on Zoom.
