If you have any questions about birth control options, or would like to start birth control, please make an appointment to schedule your visit. During your visit, you will get information on both hormonal and non-hormonal methods of birth control. If a prescription is necessary for you to start your method, you will receive it at this visit.
You do not need a referral to gynecology for IUD/implant insertion at UCM. However, you do need to have urine pregnancy, gonorrhea, and chlamydia testing done prior to IUD insertion and pregnancy testing done prior to implant insertion. Testing must be the day before or same day as the insertion appointment.
Emergency contraception can be used for up to three to five days following unprotected intercourse. Same-day appointments are available for this service; please contact UChicago Student Wellness at 773.834.9355 to learn more.
