The Health Promotion and Wellness department utilizes data from student surveys to assess student behavior and plan for the needs of UChicago students. The following are data tools that are used to evaluate alcohol use and other behaviors.
American College Health Association - National College Health Assessment (ACHA-NCHA) is a nationally recognized research survey to assist in collecting specific data about students’ health habits, behaviors and perceptions:
- Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use
- Sexual health
- Weight, nutrition, and exercise
- Mental health
- Personal safety and violence
This survey is administered every 2 years and undergraduate and graduate students are selected randomly to participate in the survey. Learn more about the ACHA-NCHA survey here.
Everfi's AlcoholEDU is an interactive online program designed to reduce the negative consequences of alcohol among students. The online program delivers a personalized experience to all types of students dependent on their current drinking choices and has been proven effective. All UChicago freshmen and transfer students are required to complete AlcoholEdu. Learn more about Everfi's AlcoholEdu platform here.
