Sore Throat

What do I do if ...

I have a sore throat?

Most sore throats are caused by viruses and can be treated at home.  Most sore throats will resolve without medical treatment. Gargling with warm salt water and drinking plenty of fluids can provide temporary pain relief.

A humidifier may be helpful in relieving symptoms, especially in sore throats caused by mouth breathing and dry air.

Acetaminophen or ibuprofen may help control the pain.

If you have a sore throat that lasts more than seven days you should make an appointment to see us at SHS.
