Upper Respiratory Infection

What do I do if ...

I have an upper respiratory infection?

You may choose to take over-the-counter cold, flu, and sinus remedies, which may provide temporary relief from symptoms but will not make the infection go away any faster.

Get plenty of rest and fluids.

Keep mucous membranes moist with a humidifier.

  • Fill humidifiers with distilled or demineralized water.
  • Make sure to empty and clean your humidifier regularly to prevent mold buildup.

Saline nose sprays can also help loosen mucus.

Make an appointment at SHS if symptoms get worse or last longer than two weeks.
