Art Therapy Open Studio

Art Therapy Open Studios - Starting in October!

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals through creative art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship. Art Therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.

Why Art Therapy?

Simply put, Art Therapy holds the unique position of integrating both psychotherapeutic theories/techniques and the creative process. It allows participants to verbally and non-verbally explore emotions, cope with anxiety and stress, develop self-awareness, boost self-esteem and build social skills among many other benefits.

Is it for everyone?

Contrary to what some might believe, you do not need to be an "artist" to benefit from the healing properties of art-making. While producing a tangible art piece is often the final result, the process of making is also essential to the therapeutic process. Everyone is welcome to join our open studio and give it a try!
